The Post via Email setting lets you send an email to your website with post content. You will need to set up a secret email address with a POP3 access. Any email received by this address will be posted, which is why it is a good idea to keep this email address a top secret.

The last section, Update Services, allows WordPress to automatically notify popular Update Services when you update your blog. It sends a XML-RPC ping every time you update or create a post. The Update Services will, in turn, process the ping and let people serving the web see your most recent posts.
